An Open Letter about television. We all complain about television, so let's do something about it.

GOAL: In just the USA, 4 million new members for local stations and 400,000 within their local station's Producer's Club.

Criteria for selection: Let us all find the good, the better, and the best.

2008, a year for transitions

The show will continue to air on some PBS-member stations through 2008; however, this is our year to turn the show over to local producers throughout the world.

Small Business School

A global television series - every week since 1994

The earliest days of these small business productions began airing on Saturday, September 3, 1994 at 4:30 PM.  A few stations took the feed and over the years, the number grew to over 210 PBS member stations.  In 1995 the Voice of America (VOA) began broadcasting the show outside of North America.  China's CCTV-9 broadcast the show for several years.  Dubai Business Channel broadcast it as a daily show for a couple of years.  Over 1500 cable stations in Canada have carried the show and over 3500 cable stations in Latin America.  Local productions of the show have been done in Poland.

The Future. The goal is to have a local show in every country of the world with a population over 300,000 (i.e. Iceland).  Though in the USA there are many markets of less than 300,000 people, SBS is defining 1000 markets based on populations of 4 million people. These will be the  target MARKETS ( Market Area Reach, Key Education Time Slots ) where local populations are selecting the best businesses to profile by the best producers in their country.

The best 52 episodes from all these broadcasts will air globally through the VOA.

Such a simple goal can change television and lift up the best within every culture to understand the heart of creativity, the many facets of courage, and the passion for integrity (ethics and morality) and generosity
